Pokémon GO: 15 best Pokémon to win in the Ultra League

By | March 16, 2021

The debut of Ultra Liga in the 2nd season of Liga de Batalha GO should happen this Monday, 1st of June. However, already turn on the warning signal: it won’t be at 5 pm (GMT) as usual, because Niantic will bring down the Pokémon GO servers on a global level for maintenance.

Niantic ‘s technical work is scheduled to take place between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm (Brasília time). Therefore, during this period the game will be unavailable. This is the first time in history that the company has scheduled maintenance for several hours.

Why turn on the warning signal?

Because maintenance can start earlier and end later than anticipated. We have no way of knowing. So, avoid playing Pokémon GO around 3pm.

Also, do not create expectations of starting Ultra League battles on the very first day, as there is no way to say that Niantic will be able to correct all problems within the allotted time.

That said, let’s get down to business: the tips for doing well in the Pokémon GO Ultra League !

Build your best team for the Ultra League by following this formula

If you have read our previous article on the 15 best Pokémon to win in the Grand League , you are already familiar with the formula. If you haven’t read it, don’t worry, as we’ll bring it up again below.

Hard counter + Hard counter + Safe switch

Pokémon with high battle potentials, with flexible charged attacks and good coverage are considered hard counter . Meganium with Deadly Plant ( Frenzy Plant ) and Earthquake ( Earthquake ) is a flexible option because it has a fast charged plant-type attack and a super effective charged attack against fire Pokémon (for an emergency situation) and steel, for example.

Having the hard counter + hard counter combo is important because it can happen that you start the battle facing an opponent that your Pokémon has (double) weakness. Thus, you will need to change urgently to keep yourself with good chances of winning. So, opt for another equally devastating Pokémon with flexible charged attacks.

Complementing the formula, it is necessary to use a Pokémon considered safe switch . This should, in fact, be your choice for an agile and safe replacement . Your Pokémon must have the same characteristics as the hard counters , but it must be positioned next to the replacement button in the lower right corner of the screen. So, when you click, you don’t have to think about what to do in most cases.

This formula is indicated by reference players in PvP, among them Zyonik and FLW Videos , whose analyzes we use to arrive at the 15 best Pokémon to use in the Ultra League .

15 best Pokémon and ideal attacks for the Ultra League

Check out this quick explanation before moving on to better understand the ideal moveset for each Pokémon.

  • Power : Amount of damage the attack does in Trainer Battles;
  • Energy : Amount of energy the attack generates or uses;
  • Duration : Number of turns the attack lasts. Each shift lasts 0.5 seconds;
  • Damage Per Shift (DPT) : The name speaks for itself. It is used in reference to quick attacks. The bigger the better;
  • Energy Per Shift (EPT):  The name also speaks for itself. It is used in reference to quick attacks. Again, the bigger the better;
  • Energy Damage (DPE):  Describes how efficient the damage is compared to the energy spent to use the attack. The bigger the better. DPE is used only for charged attacks.

The following list is divided between leaders , coverage (central position on the exchange screen) and safe substitution to help you think about the ideal team following the formula mentioned.

More references to do well in the Ultra League

There are other great Pokémon to use in the Ultra League . In this article, we have separated the 15 that we consider the best and most usual in the matches of this modality of the Battle League GO of Pokémon GO .

Other alternatives are: Lapras , Mewtwo (Armor), Regice , Meganium , Clefable and Gallade . Particularly, I like Weavile very much to win Giratina quickly , but always having at least one shield in the battle, because Weavile’s defense is not the best.

Watch the video below for more alternatives and assemble your team to do well in the 2nd season of Ultra Liga !
