Booting in Safe Mode Using Settings

Here’s how to boot in safe mode by going to Settings.

  1.  Open the Settings app from the Start Menu.
  2. On the System tab,  scroll down to open the Recovery tab. Alternatively, you can search for the Recovery tab.
  3. You will also  see an option called Advanced Startup on the Recovery page .  Click the restart button with the option to continue  .
  4. Your computer will now restart and you will have several options on your screen. Select Troubleshoot .
  5. Next, select Advanced options > Startup Settings.
  6.  Click Restart. After that, you will be given options to choose from. Press the Function key associated with Safe Mode in the list. For example, press F4 to boot into Safe Mode. Finally, your computer will now boot in safe mode.

Booting in Safe Mode from the Start Menu

Alternatively, you can boot into Safe Mode by going directly to Advanced Startup options, avoiding the procedure of opening the Settings app.

  1. To get started, open the Start Menu.
  2. Restart, Shut Down, Sleep etc. Click on the Power Button with options.
  3. Then click Restart  while holding down the Shift key  .
  4. Your computer will now restart and you will have several options on your screen. Select Troubleshoot .
  5. Next, select Advanced options > Startup Settings.
  6. Click Restart. After that, you will be presented with options to choose from. Press the Function key associated with Safe Mode in the list. For example, press F4 to boot into Safe Mode  . Finally, your computer will now boot in safe mode.

How to Exit Safe Mode?

To exit Safe Mode and return to normal Windows, do the following:

  1. First, click on the Start Menu icon.
  2.  Second, click the power button icon.
  3. Finally, click Restart.

Then your PC will boot normally.
